Harvest of the Month

HarvestOfTheMonth.png

December’s Harvest of the Month is… Cranberries!

Cranberries are a good source of vitamin C, manganese, and fiber. There is a long list of phytochemicals including antioxidants in cranberries that have been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on our bodies.

Nourish’s Harvest of the Month is an initiative that focuses on seasonally relevant foods that can be sourced locally in Wisconsin. Nourish operates its nutrition programming and education on a three-year rotation of these crops, featuring one crop a month. Check back here monthly or sign up for our email newsletter to find out what we’re currently harvesting. We will share awesome recipes as well as some interesting educational pieces that you can share with others.

Did You Know?

Cranberries belong to the Ericaceae family and are related to blueberries! Wisconsin cranberry production totaled 5.01 million barrels in 2023, compared to 4.80 million barrels in 2022, according to the USDA.
