January’s Harvest of the Month is… Cheese!
Cheese is a dairy product high in protein, calcium, and phosphorus that supports strong muscle and bone growth! Cheese varieties have been made for thousands of years, no one knows exactly when the first cheese was made. Some of the oldest varieties include Cheddar, Parmigiano Reggiano, Gouda, and Camembert.
Nourish’s Harvest of the Month is an initiative that focuses on seasonally relevant foods that can be sourced locally in Wisconsin. Nourish operates its nutrition programming and education on a three-year rotation of these crops, featuring one crop a month.
