Students in Sheboygan County are losing their nutrition education.

Beginning this fall, Wisconsin will lose all SNAP-Ed funding - eliminating vital food and nutrition education programs for kids across the state. In Sheboygan County, Nourish Farms is now the only provider of in school nutrition education, visiting over 1,800 students monthly.

Programming is free for students, but costs Nourish $100 to provide one student with a full year of hands-on, farm-based food education. Your donation supports our Farm2School program, keeping our vital nutrition and culinary education in classrooms where we are needed most.

  • No. Nourish does not rely directly on state or federal funding to operate our Farm2School program. We have received both state and federal grants in the past.

However, many of our partners and colleagues across Sheboygan County and Wisconsin have lost their nutrition education funding due to recent state and federal budget decisions. This includes resources that previously helped local schools bring Nourish programming into their classrooms.

  • Providing Farm2School education has always been a team effort, with support from organizations and programs like the UW Extension and SNAP-Ed programming. School districts are losing federal funding and redirecting funds away from supplemental programs. With these resources gone, many schools can no longer afford to bring in-school nutrition to their students.

The result: Nourish is the only remaining provider of in-school youth nutrition education in Sheboygan County, facing record-high demand without the same support from school budgets.

  • Nourish remains committed to delivering impactful food education rooted in community, connection, and accessibility. But to continue doing so at the scale that our students and schools need, we are relying more heavily on donor support and local partnerships.

  • A donation of $100 gives one student a year of hands-on Farm2School education. Your support helps to fill the funding gap and ensures kids can continue to learn vital skills about where their food comes from - and how to care for themselves and their community.
