Matcha 101: A Guided Japanese Tea Experience

Join us for a calming and immersive introduction to the world of matcha. Japan’s vibrant green tea known for its rich flavor, mindful preparation, and cultural depth.

In this hands-on, one-hour workshop, you’ll be guided through the fundamentals of matcha—from how it’s grown and stone-milled in Japan to how to properly prepare it at home. Each guest will learn how to whisk their own bowl of matcha using traditional techniques and tools, creating a moment of intention and ritual to take with them beyond the class.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • What makes high-quality matcha (and how to taste the difference)

  • The story behind matcha—from farm to whisk

  • Proper whisking techniques to achieve that perfect, velvety foam

  • How to incorporate matcha into your daily routine in a simple, approachable way

Whether you’re brand new or already love matcha, this experience is designed to be approachable, grounding, and a little bit magical.

Each participant will leave with a deeper appreciation for matcha, along with the skills and confidence to prepare it at home.

Tickets for this workshop are $40 per person.

About the Instructor

Hi, I’m Pa - founder of Sora Matcha.

What started as a simple curiosity quickly turned into something much deeper: a journey rooted in culture, connection, and community. “Sora” means sky in Japanese, a name inspired by quiet sunset runs and the feeling of openness, reflection, and possibility.

Through Sora Matcha, I partner directly with a small farm in Wazuka, Japan to source high-quality, single cultivar matcha. Every cup I serve is an extension of that relationship. Bringing the story of the farm, the ritual of preparation, and the beauty of slowing down into everyday life.

What I love most is creating spaces where people can gather, learn, and experience matcha in a way that feels both meaningful and approachable. Whether through pop-ups, workshops, or collaborations, my goal is simple: to share something that brings a moment of calm and connection to others.
