Nourish collaborated this year with the Children's Book Festival. This year's theme was "Feed Your Imagination," a connection to Nourish seemed logical. Nourish met with the organizers several times before honing in on an idea: feature the book "Creepy Carrots!" at our Farmers Market booth and during Snack Attack while featuring a carrot soup and recipe bookmark the week before the festival. Everything came together beautifully!
At the Farmers Market, the Culinary Art Car along with Nourish and JMKAC artist in residence Robert Karimi, The People's Chef, promoted "Creepy Carrots!", carrot soup, and Sheboygan Children's Book Festival.
The week before the festival was an exciting time for Nourish's after-school program, Snack Attack. Nourish visits six sites in Sheboygan County every week to provide healthy, delicious snacks and good food education. This week we had special guests at each site read the book "Creepy Carrots!" to the kids. They loved it!
The same crew was on hand for the festival at JMKAC. We encouraged the community to make carrot juice smoothies with the blender bike, create edible sculptures, give a recipe, and take a recipe while making their very own cookbook.
It was a wonderful experience for everybody and a great example of collaboration in our community.
